Step 1. Lead in
1. T: From reading, we have met three friends Betty, Max and May.
What does Betty want to be when she grows up?
S: Betty wants to be a singer and travel around the world when she grows up.
T: what do you want to be when you grow up?
Ss may give some answers.
2. T: Do you know what I wanted to be when I was your age?
T: I wanted to be an editor.
Teach “editor” A person who works in a magazine or a newspaper.eg. Mr Zhou is the editor of Teenagers’ Magazine.
T: I also wanted to become a social worker.
Teach “social” eg. A social worker can help people solve problems.
T: But sometimes ,I wanted to be a famous writer, because I liked reading and writing.
Teach “famous” eg. Yaoming is a famous basketball player. Liuxiang is a famous runner.
They are sporty.
Teach “sporty” be good at or like sports
Eg. S1 runs fast. He is sporty. Do you agree?
S2 plays basketball well. He is sporty too.
Step 2 Presentation
T: Our friend Millie is also talking to Amy about her future plans.
Get ss to open their books.
T: Can you guess what she would like to do in the future?
1. ss may guess.
2. T: Let’s listen and see if you are right.
Ss listen and find choose. Check the answers.
3. T: Now, you know Millie’s future plans. please help her complete the letter.
4. Ss check and read the letter.
T: Please pay attention to “try to be kind to people”
Practice : try to do sth be kind to sb try one’s best to do sth
Get Ss to make sentences .
5. T: So Millie would like to be a social worker when she grows up. She is really kind and helpful.
What about Sandy?Does she also want to be a social worker?
Get the Ss to listen and find out the answers.(Before listening, Ss may read the letter by themselves.)

Step 3.Practice
T: We have known Millie’s and Sandy’s future plans.What about yours? What’s your future plan and why?
Ss discuss in groups of four and then give a report.
Get some Ss to give their reports.
Step 4. Presentation
T: Good. You all have your own future plans. What about your best friends? What are their future plans?
Now Helen and Sandy are talking about their friends.
Please listen to their dialogue and answer some questions.
Questions:1. Who is the boy on the left? 2. What is he like?
3. What would he like to be when she grows up?
Ss listen and find out the answers.
Ss read the dialogue.
Step 5. Practice
T: Work in pairs and tell your partener about your friends. You may talk about their appearance, qualities, hobbies, future plans and so on, use as much information as you can .
Ss work in pairs and present their dialogues.

Write an article about your friends.
