Teaching procedure:

Warm-up

Watch a video and know more about animals.

Step 1 Lead-in

1. Play a guessing game.

  Read the sentences and guess what animals they are.

①It is one of the largest animals on land. It has a long nose and its ears are just like fans. (an elephant)

②It is called “the king of the forest”. It kills(杀) small animals for food. (a lion)

③It has a long tail. It is good at climbing trees and its favorite food is bananas. (a monkey)

④It is quite tall. It has a long neck. It likes eating the leaves from trees. (a giraffe)

⑤It has long ears and sometimes it has red eyes. (a rabbit)

⑥It lives in dry places. It can live without water for a long time. (a camel)

⑦It is a kind of horse with black and white stripes on its body. (a zebra)

2. Who has the best memory?

Step 2 While-task

Task 1 Teach some new words by pictures.

Task 2 Finish Part A ------Write the names of the animals under the pictures.

Task 3 Go on teaching some new words by my pet------a cat.

I have a cat. It is my pet. I can hold it in my hand. I often feed it some fish. When it’s happy,

it likes walking around. When it’s tired, it likes sleeping on my knees.

Task 4 Part B Match the reasons with the animals. Write the correct letters in the blanks.

Check the answers and read some important phrases.

Task 5 Make up a new dialogue.

A: Which is your favourite pet?

B: I like … best.

A: Why?

B: Because …

Task 6 Guess: What is my favorite pet?

Six sentences to guess “Eddie”.

Task 7 Comic strip

1. Watch a video and answer: Why was Hobo unhappy?  Because Eddie was rude.

2. Listen and answer:

1) What time is it?  It’s 12:30.

2) What does Eddie want Hobo to do?

  He wants Hobo to bring him something to eat.

3) What does Eddie think in the end(最后)?

  He wants a new pet.

3. Work in pairs and act it out.
